I did deactivate e-mails alerts a long time ago. I also limit myself to one e-mail share per day, only the best of the best. I too enjoy getting stumbles but I do think the "Mass Sharing" feature is being used too much. I think the best policy is to limit mass sharing to once every few days while paying close attention to those who haven't been online in more than a few days. It's about respect if you ask me.
