Something wonderful happened on January 15th 2009 in Liverpool Street Station. As people were rushing to go to work, music started playing and everybody got into it. They suddenly started dancing, young and old, doing the same steps, the same arm moves, all in harmony!
This is probably a mobile phone advertisement, but wouldn’t be cool if things like that happened in real life!
That is not an AD. It is an improv group of volunteers. They do stunts like freeze for 5 minutes at a train station, and other fun things. Any one can join.
Everyone in that station can’t be a volunteer who knows the exact moves. Besides, it says in the bottom left it’s an advertisement.
A pretty neat concept for a commercial, though.
You’re right, it’s absolutely brlliant, there is, however a great deal of planning involved in these public displays. It’s called a “Flash Mob” and is organised via mobile ‘phone or the net. Check out Flash Mob on Google and you’ll find a site, maybe, like me, you’ll participate.
i would say its supposed to look like a flash mob. but its still a bunch of professional dancers hired to do a commercial.
it might be a phone ad…..um….given the words t-mobile at the end, im almost willing to bet my bottom dollar than it is in fact an ad for a phone
that was really enjoyable
Commercials have gone a looooong way.. This is delightful! Loved the music and the dances.
This is called a Flash Mob. And yes it is possible for all of them to know the steps. I have done these before. Its crazy fun!!! Look it up and you will find a bunch of info about it. Its kind of like an “under ground” secret type of thing!
Yeah, this is a t-mobile ad, check the you tube page, but they took strong cues from the flash mob group ImprovEverywhere. ImprovEverywhere basically created the flash mob, at least today’s kind of flash mob, and brought it into the eye of the larger public. They do TONS of stuff exactly like this, still do and have been for about 4 or 5 years now, I’m not entirely sure.
Still kudos to this awesome commercial.
Maybe an ad maybe not but I liked it!
If this kind of thing happened in real life, that would be a world I’d want to live in.
I can assure you its a t-mobile advert thats currently airing in the uk, and was also filmed and devised by t-mobile. I think it would be somewhat difficult for a group of flash mobers to get music played on the speakers at one of londons busiest train stations.
this is really cool. but obviously staged. notice how they seemed to know what the next song was, the exact same moves, the direction to face, and which song was last. if it were a coincidence, they would be standing there waiting for the next song before they realized it stopped.
this is absolutely great! needed a smile and it made me laugh! thanks.
This is definitely an ad, but it seems like it was based on a mission by Improv Everywhere back in 2006. Here is the link: http://improveverywhere.com/2008/01/31/frozen-grand-central/
flash mob does that kinda stuff. Yesterday they had a massive pillowfight here in san fran in the streets.
Yup – This is most certainly an advert. It’s based in part, as pointed out previously, on the Improv Everywhere Central Station “prank” and also on the famous station dance scene from The Fisher King.
Stop saying its not an advert…I give you my solemn word that its an ad, I see it every day on my TV…Its advertising the T-mobile G1 phone
I tried something like this before. On the main station in copenhagen denmark. We were about 40 that started dancing a crazy dance while singing a crazy song… You should try it. Its really, really fun
i wish the attitude of the whole world changes, i dream of a worl much happier and fun to live in, i love the ad best one in recent times thanks anto for posting it i would have missed watching it here in india
oh i loved it !
